The voting for the Ballon d’ Or been a thrill ride so far.
Initially, there were leaks that Bayern Munich star Robert Lewndowski had deservedly wont the award. Last week, however, news broke out of Portugal that Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi had snatched the award...again.
Sport Bild tracked down France Football editor-in-chief Pascal Ferré, who told the Germany outlet that the Messi news was, well, “Bullsh*t.”
“That’s a lot of bullsh*t we’ve seen in the last ten days. A big bluff,” Ferré said.
Ferré was clearly annoyed and responding to Portuguese broadcaster “RTP”, who leaked out the allegedly “false” Messi results. RTP went as far to say that Mess was already notified that he won his seventh Ballon d’Or.
Per Sport Bild, a panel of 53 sports journalists will choose the winner of the Ballon d’Or awards. The last votes were recorded two weeks ago, but the results will not be announced until the end of November.
