The career paths of Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler and Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt have been filled with ups-and-downs. The players were linked to Bayern Munich at various points of their respective careers, but after both emerged as big-time prospects, the duo never seemed to be able to put things together.
Now, though, German national team manager Hansi Flick has opted to call both players back into camp after both had fallen out of favor. Versatile and skilled, Flick is eager to see what he can extract from the players.
“Julian Brandt has developed well over the past few weeks. We wanted to see him and Julian Draxler with the team again at the end of the year and before the start of the World Cup year,” Flick told the DFB website. “Both have an enormous footballing quality that can help us.”
With 27 players in camp, it is clear that Flick wants to leave no stone unturned in ensuring he has the best squad to represent Germany at the World Cup.
