Bayern Munich Alumni: Philipp Lahm doesn’t doubt Manuel Neuer can play until he’s 40

Why stop at 40? GO FOR 50!

When Bayern Munich legend Philipp Lahm looks at some of his old teammates, surely it must be odd.

Lahm retired at a time where he had some gas left in the tank, but perhaps was not playing up to the personal standard he held for himself. In the end, Lahm knew it was the correct time for him to walk away.

When Lahm sees Manuel Neuer, however, the 2014 World Cup winner can see that his old teammate still can ply his trade for years to come.

“I actually trust Manu to do anything. He’s a great guy, a world class goalkeeper, probably the best there has ever been,” Lahm told Sport Bild. “He is usually always fit. He’s a little crazy off the pitch when it comes to sports sometimes. That’s why I can imagine it very well.”

Neuer has not shown any signs of slowing down and at 35-years-old, it is absolutely not hard to imagine Neuer being capable of playing at an extremely high level for at least a few more years.
