SC Freiburg’s Lucas Höler knows Bayern Munich will be ready

SC Freiburg striker Lucas Höler is enjoying his squad’s high placement in the Bundesliga table, but knows how difficult it is to stay in the league top six spots. Defeating Bayern Munich would be a huge boost in helping his squad stay in the Bundesliga’s upper-echelon.

Höler, though, knows that Bayern Munich is still stinging from its DFB-Pokal loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“Bavaria was irritated by the defeat. However, Gladbach also showed how it can work, how you can beat Bayern. Tactically it was great,” Höler told Abendzeitung. “It is noticeable that Bayern are conceding more goals than before. We’ll try to take our chance and score one or two goals.”

Höler credits the quality of Bayern Munich’s roster for the squad’s quick rebound, though.

“Almost every player fascinates me: Lewandowski, Müller, all the other offensive players who are fast and strong at dribbling. But also Upamecano. He’s a defensive monster, so is Hernández. Upamecano is an extremely strong fighter with a very robust body. If you don’t go in there one hundred percent and concentrate, you have no chance against him. It’s going to be a big task — but I’m looking forward to the duel,” Höler said.

Höler has three goals and six assists in 12 games across all competitions this season.
