With half of the Champions League group stage already over, Bayern Munich are firmly placed at the top of Group E with 9 points and zero goals conceded. However, having already been knocked out of one cup competition this season, Julian Nagelsmann and his team won’t be taking Benfica lightly.
Jorge Jesus and his squad are probably the most threatening team in the group (given that Barcelone have effectively entered the banter era). Bayern need only one more win to secure qualification to the Round of 16, and getting it early would give Nagelsmann some room to rotate in later games. However, with an international break coming up, he can’t afford to go all out at the moment — which could give the Portuguese giants an opportunity.
