Former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick is trying to delicately balance managing a team full of veteran stars with a smaller group of young, up-and-coming players.
When asked at a recent press conference about how a young player like Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz was fitting in, Flick said he was enthusiastic about Wirtz and all of his younger players on the roster.
“Florian is doing his job very well. I’m in exchange with his coach Gerardo Seoane. It’s great to see how he’s currently developing,” said Flick (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “With Karim Adeyemi, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, three very young players are involved relatively quickly. We should just trust them.”
Musiala has already begun to assert himself as a top 14-15 player on the roster, while Wirtz seems like he is on the cusp of breaking into that realm as well. If Adeyemi continues his upward trend, it is also not out of the realm of possibility the Red Bull Salzburg striker could find a way to challenge for more playing time as well.
