Leroy Sané has come a long way with Bayern Munich. The Manchester City and Schalke product had difficult times after arriving at FC Bayern. Even just a few months ago, things were at their worse when Sané struggled at Euro 2020 and faced harsh criticism from fans and pundits.

Since then, Sané looks like a completely different person. It has been just six weeks since Sané was booed at the Allianz Arena, but you would never know it. The German winger has regained his form and is resembling the performances he was so highly touted for in Manchester. The German national team was a massive boost for Sané and marked a turning point for his time at Bayern. He returned from the international break with two goals, an assist, and a massive boost in self-confidence.

Sané has started for Bayern in every game since and was directly involved in one goal in every game up until the Frankfurt defeat. Now Sané is returning to Germany for the international break where national coach Hansi Flick has big plans for him.

“Leroy is a very good guy, a great footballer, we are very happy about his current development. It was clear to us that he needed time, but also trust. I think it clicked for him now. This development was important and it came at the right time,” Hansi Flick told kicker.

When Sané asked whether he would rather win the UEFA Champions League with Bayern Munich or the FIFA World Cup with Germany, Sané had no second guesses. For Sané, nothing is more important than a World Cup trophy. “You only have the chance to win the World Cup every four years. That’s why you dream a little more often of winning it, because it’s more difficult,” Sané tweeted. I don’t think Bayern fans will be bothered by this answer because everyone knows how special the World Cup is. Let’s hope that Sané can win both titles.
