Speaking on Toni and Felix Kroos’ podcast Einfach mal Luppen, Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed that he’s in regular contact with Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City boss has always maintained a good relationship with his former club, and this is just another example of that in effect. The quote was captured by Tz’s Manuel Bonke on Twitter:
Julian #Nagelsmann ist als #FCBayern-Trainer im Austausch mit Pep #Guradiola, wie er bei "Einfach mal Luppen" verrät: "Ich habe hin und wieder mal Austausch mit Pep, was ganz interessant ist. Weil er einfach einen sehr speziellen Ansatz hat."

Julian #Nagelsmann is in exchange with Pep #Guradiola as #FCBayern coach, as he reveals on “Einfach mal Luppen”: “I have exchanges with Pep every now and then, which are quite interesting. Because he simply has a very special approach.”
Maybe that’s why Leroy Sane is back to his best now — Pep could’ve given Nagelsmann a few tips. The 25-year-old does look a lot better since making the switch to left wing, where he was successful for City. Then again, his role at Bayern is only superficially similar to what he did back in England — Sane has much more defensive responsibility in the current system, and doesn’t need to get into 1v1 situations.
So maybe Nagelsmann’s just taking some pointers from here and there. That’s probably for the best, since you don’t want him to be influenced too much by Pep’s style of thinking. Many Bayern fans remember his style of football rather fondly, but Bayern have realized much greater highs since the Spaniard’s departure. Nagelsmann, as someone who is tasked with replicating those highs, must find his own solutions for the squad.
Which he probably will, given that he’s such a gigantic football nerd. Sorry Julian, you know it’s true.
