Bayern Munich II stay at the top of the Regionalliga Bayern this weekend with a solid 3-0 win over Greuther Fürth II.

Match Highlights

Bright Arrey-Mbi put Bayern II up 1-0 in the 10th minute with a header on a corner kick from Oliver Batista Meier. It was almost 2-0 a couple of minutes later when Batista Meier’s free kick was pushed off the crossbar, but Fürth were able to keep the ball out.

In the 54th minute, Nemanja Motika nearly made it 2-0 but was stopped by the goalkeeper, but Gabriel Vidovic was on hand to collect and score the rebound to double Bayern’s lead. Ten minutes later, Batista Meier finally gets his goal with a brilliant turn and finish at the top of the Fürth box.

Squad

Martin Demichelis only made one change from the squad that played midweek, bringing in Jamie Lawrence for Nico Feldhan. Lawrence played with Bayern’s U-19 team in the UEFA Youth League (It’s not going well for them in that competition.) midweek against Dynamo Kyiv.

Demichelis has definitely settled on a defensive backline, and he seems ready to ride it for at least the rest of 2021. There’s a lot more attacking talent at the younger levels, so there’s a lot more rotation in those positions.

Bayern XI: Kainz - Booth, Lawrence, Arrey-Mbi, Brückner - Aydin (76. Welzmüller), Rhein (68. Fust), Tillman - Batista-Meier (76. Metu), Vidović (70. Copado), Motika (68. Sieb)

Table and Next Match

Bayern II are in first place in the table thanks to a superior goal differential. They’re level on points with SpVgg Bayreuth still, but Bayreuth still has a game in hand.

With the international break upon us, Bayern II won’t take the field again until Friday, October 15 when they face SV Wacker. During the break, Bayreuth will play their game in hand, so the clubs will head into that weekend with an equal number of games played.
