Maxi Rall scored twice to lead Bayern Munich to a big 6-0 victory over FC Köln to maintain their top spot in the Frauen Bundesliga.
Match Highlights
Rall and Saki Kumagai put Bayern up front with a 2-0 advantage in the 17th and 21st minutes, both players finishing mostly loose balls in the box. Then, in the 27th minute, Rall scored her second of the match, against on a rebound. Linda Dallmann made it 4-0 right before halftime with a header after a Köln’s goalkeeper punched away a free kick.
As Bayern coasted through the second half with a 4-0, Glódís Viggósdóttir scored Bayern’s fifth of the match, this one on a loose ball in the box following a corner kick. Two minutes later, Viviane Asseyi finished the scoring on the day finishing a Sofia Jakobsson pass to give the Bavarians the 6-0 win.
Squad
Giulia Gwinn made her return to the starting lineup in the Bundesliga, and Jovana Damnjanovic came on as a second half substitute. The two players are nearly back at full strength, and it’s a beautiful thing to see for the club.
Interestingly enough to start the season, 21 year old Sydney Lohmann seems to have been relegated to the bench. She was the club’s second leading scorer in the Bundesliga last season behind only Lea Schüller but has only made it 71 points through 4 matches this season.
Bayern XI: Benkarth – Glas (63. Jakobsson), Kumagai (79. Wenninger), Viggósdóttir, Rall – Zadrazil – Gwinn, Magull (69. Asseyi), Dallmann (77. Vilhjálmsdóttir), Beerensteyn – Schüller (69. Damnjanović)
Bayern loanee Weronika Zawistowska got the start and went 89 minutes before being subbed off for former Bayern players Laura Donhauser. Fellow former Bayern players Anja Pfluger, Eunice Beckman, and Mandy Islacker also appeared for Köln.
