Entering Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga showdown with Union Berlin, Die Eisernen was the only team that Thomas Müller has not scored a goal against in the league.

Well, Müller can cross that one off its bucket list as he turned in a spectacular performance that included a goal and three assists.

“The pressure was enormous on us today. We had to show a reaction. Here in this stadium you never know what will happen. We had to go into challenges and take responsibility - everyone had to be available and wants the ball,” Müller said (as captured by Tz). “We played a very dominant game, but there should have been a few more goals. Union fought back, showed even more aggressiveness, and played long balls. We got involved in that and couldn’t find our composure. But we gave the right answers with the goals we scored.”

Müller knew that the squad needed a strong response after getting smoked by Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB-Pokal earlier in the week. Still the sting of that loss is not going to go away any time soon.

“If FC Bayern is knocked out of the Pokal with a 5-0 defeat, you have to be able to take criticism. Sometimes there is criticism that’s a bit below the belt. We’re still out of the Pokal, the competition was very important to us. It’s certainly not all great now,” Müller said.
