Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann understands that being a young center-back on a team that already has Niklas Süle, Lucas Hernandez, and Dayot Upamecano cannot be easy.
There is an inherent lack of playing time and a steep learning curve to get up the level of those three aforementioned players. Nagelsmann, though, made it clear that while the club likes Nianzou, the Frenchman has to make some improvements in his game.
“He’s a great talent. He has to reduce his mistakes a bit. He’s made too many mistakes in training sessions and friendlies. He’s a good center-back in footballing terms. I think very highly of him,” Nagelsmann said in his weekly press conference (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “I have feedback from training that he’s been doing well recently. In the end it comes down to the mistakes he does. We will manage that.”
Nianzou’s status at the beginning of this month to now seems to have wavered a bit. Thought to be against a loan earlier, recent report indicate a move away could be a consideration at this point for the 19-year-old.
