Bayern Munich have another target on their radar for the upcoming transfer windows. The Bavarian giants have reportedly joined the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. Bayern are not alone in their interest, with significant interest in the Belgian from other top clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 24-year-old’s contract with Leicester is expiring in 2023 and they are working hard to tie him down to a fresh deal. Tielemans has been very successful at Leicester and the club is aspiring for great things so they don’t plan on letting the Belgian go anytime soon. Tielemans representatives are discussing a possible extension with the Foxes executives, Bayern are keeping a close eye on his situation, reports Calciomercato.

Leicester’s manager Brendan Rodgers addresses the rumors circulating around Tieleman’s rejection of a contract offer. Rodgers stated that there has been no rejections but simply dialogue between the club and Tieleman’s representatives. There are still discussions between Tielemans and the Leicester board but Rodgers realizes this is something out of his control.

“He’s a really gifted young player and I have loved working with him. I understand the nature of the game. If his commitment changes or his focus changes, then it becomes an issue. I don’t see that with Youri at all, he’s so professional. He’s a really respectful young guy,” attested Rodgers on Tieleman’s character.

The Belgian international has started the season in full stride with three goals in nine Premier League appearances to date. If Bayern Munich were to approach Tielemans, they could get the 24-year-old on a bargain next summer if negotiations with Leicester begin to spiral. However, unless these contract extensions do fall apart, the Foxes will do whatever is necessary to keep Tielemans at the King Power Stadium.
