Ahead of the club’s DFB-Pokal clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann was asked to give his assessment on the transfer situation of winger Kingsley Coman. While contract talks between the Frenchman and Die Roten appear to have hit a wall, head coach Julian Nagelsmann remains a big fan of the Frenchman’s talent as well as his personality.
“King is an outstanding person with a great personality,” said the 34-year-old. “Incredibly polite and friendly, I enjoy working with him immensely.”

Coman has struggled to maintain fitness and consistency throughout his career but the 26-year-old was able to show glimpses of his true potential under an expert ‘player-developer’ like Jupp Heynckes or Hansi Flick. Now, Nagelsmann is aiming to help the France International overcome those weaknesses that have hindered him from reaching the next stage in his development.
“In my eyes, he is one of the top wingers on the planet,” asserted the young coach. “If he is healthy, he will also get an even better rate, and that is the point we want to work on.”
Although unlikely at this stage, Nagelsmann further wished for a long-term collaboration with Coman. “I’m incredibly happy that he’s healthy again and of course, I’d like to work with him for many, many more years.”
