Lucas Hernández has been an elite defender for Bayern Munich in recent times and is vital for this squad. Unfortunately, the Frenchman has gotten himself into some trouble. Summed up quickly, Hernández was summoned to appear in court “in order to be personally required to enter prison voluntarily within ten days” as a result of violating a restraining order with his wife.

The Madrid Regional court has a big decision to make and their verdict will be announced on Thursday. This of course will determine whether or not Hernández’s renewed appeal will be granted. If his appeal is not granted, Lucas will have to go to the penitentiary of his choice [Bild].

“First and foremost, this is a private issue. I have no other information than that I can continue to plan with him as I did before. But I don’t know any details about the Spanish judiciary,” said Nagelsmann said regarding Lucas Hernández’s predicament per Abdendzeitung reporter Maximilian Koch.

This means that Hernández must report immediately to a prison in Spain as soon as Thursday. Otherwise, an arrest warrant will be issued and Bayern Munich will have some even bigger issues. If the appeal is accepted, this issue won’t just disappear. Hernández would dodge jail time but the case would go back to the criminal court. Unfortunately, Hernández won’t be escaping this problem for quite some time.

According to a report from Bild, initial info about the court’s decision could come as early as Tuesday. We could have another update on Hernández’s situation anytime.
