Bundesliga Watch: Borussia Dortmund dealt blow as Erling Haaland out “several weeks”

When it rains, it pours for Borussia Dortmund.

Many pundits expect Borussia Dortmund to be Bayern Munich’s primary competition for the Bundesliga crown, but BVB will need to get back on track without the services of Erling Haaland for “several weeks” thanks to a hip injury sustained by the Norwegian phenom.

After getting embarrassed by Ajax 4-0 on Tuesday in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to right the Black and Yellow ship against Arminia Bielefeld this weekend in the Bundesliga:

Haaland’s absence should create more opportunities for Donyell Malen and Youssoufa Moukoko, who will be relied up to shoulder some of the scoring load normally carried by Haaland. Moukoko, though is battling a muscular injury, which could hinder his ability to help out.

Even without Haaland, Borussia Dortmund has a wealth of talent and theoretically should be able to weather the storm, but it will not be easy. After facing off with Bielefeld this weekend, Dortmund will play Ingolstadt (DFB-Pokal — October 26th), FC Köln (Bundesliga — October 30th), Ajax (Champions League — November 3rd), and RB Leipzig (Bundesliga — November 6th).
