Josip Stanisic has burst on to the scene for Bayern Munich this season, but that opportunity might have been nudged forward a bit based on interest from clubs in both England and Italy over the summer per Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg on his “Meine Bayern Woche” podcast (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).

Stanisic got his initial first team opportunity under Hansi Flick last summer, but the youngster really made a name for himself by starring for the Bavarians during the squad’s preseason schedule.

Apparently, Stanisic performed well enough in this instances to draw interest from other clubs. Theoretically, those inquiries could have helped expedited the process for Stanisic to get a contract extension from Bayern Munich.

Stanisic, of course, signed a new deal with Bayern Munich last week that will keep him in Bavaria through 2025.

Plettenberg also reported that Stanisic decided that he wanted to stay with Die Roten after talking with manager Julian Nagelsmann.
