In a match with so many standouts for Bayern Munich, it might have been easy to overlook Kingsley Coman’s strong effort. The Frenchman is still in the early stages of getting back into form after having a surgical procedure performed on his heart.
Coman was an absolute menace on the offensive flank, using his pace, ability to change speeds, and footwork to frustrate the Benfica defense throughout the match.
“It was a good game. Benfica is a good team. But after the second goal, we had so many chances. I’m very happy that I’m back on the pitch playing without heart problems,” Coman told DAZN (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich’s fill-in head coach Dino Toppmöller was thrilled to see Coman operating so effectively on the pitch. Without any real ability to contain Coman, Benfica was just left shaking its head all game long in trying to sort out a way to stop him.
“In the second half, he really turned it on and almost made his opponent dizzy,” said Toppmöller (as captured by Tz).
