Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski unsure he can reach last season’s levels for scoring

Robert Lewandowski has lofty goals, but even he knows last season something special.

Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski is as confident on the pitch as just about anyone in the game. Even with that self-assurance, the Polish Hitman is not so sure he can reach the goal scoring levels he achieved last season.

“At the moment I’m saying no because it’s still too early. And it’s also the strain of having so many games this season, like the last one as well because of COVID, with so many games and strain. We’re also on the road a lot, including with the national team. That’s never easy. I know the season is long,” Lewandowski recently told Bundesliga.com. “What you’re doing now isn’t that important. What’s important is what you do in the most important moments and against the most important teams. That’s why I have to remain patient, do my job, but also think a step ahead about what could come later in the most important period, not right now.”

Lewandowski got back on the scoring track with a brace against Bayer Leverkusen and while he might not outwardly say he can do what he did last season, you know that he is absolutely going to try.
