Report: Karim Adeyemi could be Kingsley Coman’s successor at Bayern Munich

Could Karim Adeyemi fill a different role than what many are expecting at Bayern Munich?

According to a report from kicker (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s alleged pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi might not exactly be a contingency plan for a potential Robert Lewandowski move.

While many have expected Adeyemi to be considered as Lewandowski’s possible successor, it could actually be that the Germany international is being viewed as more of a potential heir to Kingsley Coman’s spot on the roster.

With Coman’s contract situation uncertain, Bayern Munich appears to be looking alternatives to the Frenchman. Adeyemi could fall into that mix, but he would be an expensive option. The 19-year-old is expected to cost any prospective suitor €30 to €40 million, plus what can be assumed to a decent salary.

Coman’s negotiations got contentious at the end of the summer and it remains to be seen if he and the Bayern Munich negotiating team can get on the same page. If the winger continues to want to be paid like Lewandowski, things might not progress any further.

Incidentally, both Coman and Adeyemi have been linked to Liverpool, while the German also had drawn interest from FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.
