Bayern Munich Josip Stanisic knows he needs to trust himself to continue his career progression

The young Croatian has to keep pushing himself forward, while not dwelling on any bad moments.

Bayern Munich defender Josip Stanisic is one of the fun breakout stories of the season so far.

While Stanisic is enjoying this wild ride, he recently admitted that it takes a lot of hard luck — and some luck — to find a way to break into Bayern Munich’s roster.

“Above all, it takes hard work and a lot of patience. Not everyone has such outstanding talent as, for example, Jamal Musiala, that he can play directly with the professionals at the age of 18,” said Stanisic in an interview with FCBayern.com. “And you certainly need a bit of luck to be in the right place at the right time. If you then get your chance, you shouldn’t drive yourself crazy after just a weaker game, but trust your strengths.”

Throughout his career, Stanisic has experienced at least some level of doubt on whether he would “make it” or not. Now, though, the Croatian international fees like he belongs.

“I only realized a year ago that I could become a professional — and that I have now made it into the squad here at FC Bayern only developed in the course of preparation,” Stanisic said. “I was lucky that there were still a few national players missing in the first few weeks and that I was actually allowed to play every test match. When I felt the coach’s trust there, I knew that I could do it here.”
