Bayern Munich legend Philipp Lahm was not surprise to see former RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann make the leap to Bayern Munich over the summer.
For Lahm, Nagelsmann needed to make the move to challenge himself in the next phase in his career.
“That was the logical step. After Hoffenheim and Leipzig there aren’t that many clubs that represent progress,” Lahm said on Bild TV’s “Bayern Insider” with Christian Falk. “The start was very, very good. That brings calm and also gives the trainer security. From the outside, it looks very good that he understands the team and they understand him. He comes from here too, that helps a lot.”
Nagelsmann has certainly acquitted himself nicely in Bavaria.
With just one loss on his Bayern Munch resume so far, the 34-year-old has already shown an innate ability to connect with his players and lead a talented roster in a high-pressure environment.
