Die Werkerself will not be a pushover for Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann is excited to have his squad back in action — especially against a top competitor like Bayer Leverkusen.

“When two teams that are next to each other in table face off, then it always makes for a good game. FC Bayern against Leverkusen has always been an exciting fixture. We are looking forward to it,” Nagelsmann said at his weekly press conference (as captured by the club’s Twitter account, @FCBayernEN). “I’m expecting it to be an exciting game to watch. Both teams like to attack. They have become a solid unit and have a strong team spirit. We will need to play to our best, but we are confident we can do that.”

As for what his team needs to do to be successful against Die Werkself, Nagelsmann thinks the plan is quite simple, but the execution is where things could get complicate against a good team like Leverkusen.

“Fundamentally, it’s about our shape when we are in possession, and that we are well-equipped to deal with losing possession,” Nagelsmann said. “The next step is to then win back the ball as quickly as possible.”
