Germany had another successful international break under Hansi Flick and some of the former Bayern Munich manager’s players could be headed in different directions for their respective clubs.
SC Freiburg defender Nico Schlotterbeck, whose spot on the Germany national team could be somewhat in doubt when players like Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, and Matthias Ginter are fully healthy and ready to go, is making great progress according to his club coach Christian Streich:
#Streich über Nico #Schlotterbeck: "Es ist positiv, dass er beim @DFB_Team dabei ist, weil er viel lernen kann. Er ist nicht enttäuscht. Und wenn er so weitermacht, dann wird er bestimmt auch dabei bleiben kann und die Belohnung kriegen. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit ihm." pic.twitter.com/Jrjz4pJl99

#Streich about Nico #Schlotterbeck: “It is positive that he is with Germany because he can learn a lot. He’s not disappointed. And if he continues like this, then he will definitely be able to stick with it and get the reward. I am very happy with him.”
While Streich is upbeat and positive, Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Adi Hütter did not seem to really indicate that midfielder Florian Neuhaus is close to re-gaining his position on the squad. Right now, Neuhaus seems to be stuck behind Denis Zakaria and Manu Koné on Hütter’s depth chart:
️ Hütter: "Flo Neuhaus is training well. He's taking on the battle. It's not about individual players, but rather the whole team. It's important to have healthy competition for places and that the players embrace that."#DieFohlen #BMGVfB pic.twitter.com/S1d8WaVxm7

For Neuhaus, the midfielder will need to do whatever he can to get back in the lineup. While Flick has not indicated Neuhaus’ current role with Gladbach is a problem, it could eventually be an issue if he cannot get on the pitch.
