Bayern Munich defender Josip Stanisic recently admitted that he was a big fan of a few key club players as a kid. Moreover, Stanisic was also rocking the FC Bayern bedsheets as a little kid.
It is as if he was destined to ply his trade at Säbener Straße.
“I had my whole room full of posters by Franck Ribéry, Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger. And of course I also had Bayern bed linen - by the way, I still have them, but they are no longer made up (laughs),” Stanisic said with a laugh during an interview with FCBayern.com.
Stanisic, who probably did not bring those bed sheets with him to Munich, also played a key role for Croatia during the international break — something he has long looed forward to.
“My family comes from Slavonski Brod, a city in the east of Croatia. It’s a dream for me to play for Croatia’s national team,” Stanisic said. “The Croatian Football Association and national coach Zlatko Dalić tried hard for me months ago and gave me a perspective. I’m really looking forward to this challenge.”
