Bayern Munich has one of the strongest groups of center-backs in Europe.
Niklas Süle has been in incredible form and looks like he is evolving into the complete defender that many thought he could become. Lucas Hernandez has been terrific as well, using his speed and fearless style of play to standout, while Dayot Upamecano — despite a poor effort against Eintracht Frankfurt — has been very good.
Because of all of that, Tanguy Nianzou has often been left on the bench, which is not a great place to be for a young player in need of game time for development. While some have mentioned that a loan would benefit the Frenchman, Bayern Munich is reluctant to send him away for fear it will hurt the squad’s depth per Bild (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia).
It just seems that Nianzou will have to wait his turn in what is a somewhat unsettled future for the backline. Süle has been rumored to want an exit and Benjamin Pavard reportedly wants to move inside to play center-back. In addition, Bayern Munich also has Chris Richards (Hoffenheim) and Lars Lukas Mai (Werder Bremen) out on loan, with both players potentially in the future mix for the backline.
Whatever the case, the current threesome of center-backs is playing too well to mess with the rhythm of what they are doing, so Nianzou will likely have to savor those scrap minutes he will get toward the end of games.
