When Bayern Munich was leading Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0, things all seemed headed in the right direction.
Leon Goretzka had just pulled off one of the great plays of the season for Bayern Munich as he intercepted a chipped pass and slid a ball to Leroy Sane before getting it back to rifle by Yann Sommer.

Then everything fell apart and Goretzka was not pleased.
“We lost the ball twice where we were not allowed to lose the ball. Then it’s 2-2 in no time,” said the 25-year-old after the game to DAZN (as captured by Tz). “Their third goal was from a similar situation. We invited our opponents three times today and they took advantage of that.”
Goretzka was quick to note that there were individual mistakes made, but the team’s overall play was not there to protect against miscues.
“We made individual mistakes, but you can position yourself beforehand so that ball losses don’t end up being so devastating,” Goretzka said. “We are currently conceding too many goals. Today we insisted on taking the lead again. Losing away after such a lead obviously hurts.”
The sting of the loss will surely go away, but the Bavarians will need to regroup and figure out how to avoid letting another game slip away in such a poor manner.
