Bayern Munich treble-winner Ivan Perisic’s return to Inter Milan has had predictable results. While the 31-year-old has made 25 appearances so far, Perisic still seems to not have the trust of manager Antonio Conte.
Per a report from Sport1, Perisic had a couple of opportunities to get out from under the weight of Conte’s doghouse, but opted to decline invitations from both Borussia Dortmund and Hertha Berlin:
As SPORT1 learned, Borussia recently asked Inter Milan about Ivan Perisic. The runner-up world champion played in Dortmund between 2011 and 2013, scoring nine goals for the Black and Yellows in 42 Bundesliga games.
Perisic gave BVB a rejection. The striker, who has played for Wolfsburg and Bayern in addition to BVB, is currently not planning a return to the Bundesliga. He would rather move to Spain or England. Therefore, a move to Hertha BSC — the Berliners had also asked — is out of the question for him.
There was some mild speculation that Perisic could once again be a target for Bayern Munich if Douglas Costa is allowed to end his loan early, but this report would seem to quash that theory.
Who knows, though? If Costa somehow does bolt, maybe Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic can beat the deadline and convince Perisic to give the Bavarians one more try.
