Bayern Munich’s pursuit of RB Leipzig center-back Dayot Upamecano went public last week when Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge directly addressed the rumors floating around regarding his club’s pursuit of the French defender. Since that point, we’ve heard that Upamecano even had a conversation with Bayern manager Hansi Flick.
Things, however, might be heating up even more according to Bild (behind the Bild+ paywall):
There was a secret meeting in Munich! Thursday at Säbener Straße: A black Mercedes with Cologne license plates drives into the underground garage under the Bayern offices. In the car the Upamecano advisors Sascha Breese (41) and Volker Struth (54) of the newly founded agency “Sports360”.
On the floor of the board of directors Hasan Salihamidzic (44) is already waiting in his office. At 4:15PM, Struth and Breese are led into the meeting room. At 4:30PM the negotiations begin at the board level behind closed doors. In addition to Upamecano, “Sports360” also represents Bayern star Niklas Süle (25) and currently loaned Adrian Fein (21). The reason for the meeting, however, was Upamecano. It was not finished until 7PM. At 7:06PM, Breese and Struth leave the Bayern underground garage.
You can take the report with a grain of salt or two, but things might be escalating at q uicker rate than anticipated.
