Per an announcement on the FCBayern.com website, Bayern Munich has extended the contract of promising midfielder Torben Rhein:
FC Bayern has tied a promising talent for the long term. Torben Rhein (12.01.2003), captain of the U19s of the German record champions, has extended his contract that originally expired at the end of the season.
Rhein is considered one of the gems of the Bayern Munich youth system and has been training frequently with Bayern Munich II.
“I am very happy about this contract extension,” said Rhein, who considers a permanent move to Bayern Munich II as the next step in his career path. “I am convinced that I have the right environment here to be able to take the next steps in my development and I would like to thank everyone who has accompanied me on my way up to this point and supported me.”
Bayern Munich campus director Jochen Sauer was ecstatic to be able to lock down one of the club’s best prospects.
“Torben has made great progress with us over the past three-and-a-half years. We are convinced of his great potential and are pleased that he will now take the next steps in men’s football with us and with us,” said Sauer.
While Bayern Munich did not provide exact details on the length of the deal at this stage, it is believed to be for one-year which will keep Rhein on Säbener Straße through the 2021/2022 season:
