Per a report from Sport1 (as captured by Marca), Bayern Munich is among the power clubs looking at Villarreal’s 24-year-old defender Pau Torres as a potential replacement for David Alaba:

There is not a big club in Europe that has not been linked in recent months with the future of Pau Torres. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester, Chelsea ... and the last to join the bid for the Villarreal center-back would be the German giant, Bayern Munich. According to the Bavarian press, the center-back would be preferred by the Munich club to replace David Alaba’s departure to Real Madrid.

Torres is a left-footed center-back, who has a contract that runs through 2024 with Villarreal. Transfermarkt has Torres valued at €50 million, which puts him in the general neighborhood of RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, who has a €42.5 million release clause and is another defender that Bayern Munich reportedly has interest in.

The difference between the two young defenders is their preferred foot. Upamecano could be an excess purchase as a right-footed center-back where Bayern Munich already has Niklas Sule and potentially Jerome Boateng (if he re-signs with the club), along with Chris Richards and Tanguy Nianzou. Torres, meanwhile, could be competition for Lucas Hernandez at the left center-back spot.
