In a recent interview with Az, Alexander Nübel’s agent, Stefan Backs said that the keeper needs to be playing more at Bayern Munich. “Overall, Alex feels very comfortable at Bayern,” Backs said. “There is of course a small drawback: he has to get more games at some point,” Back explained.
Alexander Nübel has only made a total of two appearances for Bayern Munich’s first team so far this season. He started and played the 90 minutes in Bayern’s 3-0 win over FC Düren in the first round of the DFB-Pokal and in the 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League when Bayern had already secured advancement to the knockout stages with the top spot in their group.
Despite Nübel’s limited playing time, Backs said Nübel isn’t worried about his long-term future at Bayern: “Alex is a relaxed guy, his contract in Munich runs until 2025. We worked out several scenarios with Bayern as to how the next few years could go . Bayern is a long-term project for Alex.”
Backs still believes that Nübel is at the right place and is learning a lot from Neuer. “The last six months at Schalke were difficult for Alex; not everything went right on the club side,” Backs said. “What Alex is learning from Manuel Neuer is above all the mental focus. To be there on the spot, even if you are hardly challenged for more than 90 minutes: That is what sets Neuer apart — and that’s where Alex wants to get there.”

At the very least, even if Nübel is hardly playing, he’s still benefiting from training day in and day out alongside Neuer. It can help him reach the next level. However, Neuer still expects to be the number 1 keeper at Bayern as long as he’s at the club, which remains a roadblock for Nübel. Hence, a loan move for him might be on the cards for this summer so that he could go somewhere where he could gain valuable experience and consistent playing time.
