Joshua Kimmich unhappy with performance that wasn’t “Bayern-like” against FC Augsburg

After a dominant first half, Bayern Munich took its foot off the gas against FC Augsburg.

Bayern Munich’s 1-0 victory earned the squad three points, but the players were far from satisfied with the victory.

A dominant first-half performance was offset by a disappointing and lethargic second half, which saw FC Augsburg almost knot the game. If not for a pesky post that got in the way of Alfred Finnbogason’s penalty kick attempt, the game could have been knotted at 1-1. Luckily for Bayern Munich, Finnbogason’s shot was centimeters off the mark.

Joshua Kimmich was among those Bayern Munich players not exactly thrilled with the team’s second half effort.

“What we offered was thin,” said Kimmich (per Tz). “As is so often the case, we didn’t manage to finish it properly. That wasn’t Bayern-like.”

No it was not.

Bayern Munich did make some progress during the match with its offensive creativity and defensive structure early, but it seems like the squad’s heavy schedule once again caught up to it in a game’s waning moments.
