Bayern Munich manager addressed some of the rumors floating around his team and in doing so, sent a clear and direct message to Juventus-loanee Douglas Costa.
“Our squad is almost complete; the quality of training is very appealing. Douglas has worked hard. The level of competition within the squad is high at the moment, which is why we take it game by game. Every player has to accept this situation and prove themselves to the coaches,” said Flick at his press conference (per Tz). “We tried to take him to the next step, but the competition is currently very intense. It’s always a difficult decision for the coaching team. He has to show the coaching team his quality. That’s why it’s his job to go one step further.”
Costa, of course, was the subject of some rumors that the Bavarians would be willing to return him to Juventus during this transfer window. While Flick did not specifically commit to Costa one way or the other, the manager’s statement of the “squad is almost complete” seems to indicate that not much will happen from this point forward.
