Bayern Munich ousted SC Freiburg 2-1 at the Allianz Arena, but the visiting side made life extremely difficult for the Rekordmeister.

For Hansi Flick, it was no surprise to see how well SC Freiburg played considering the man they have leading the way: Christian Streich.

“The entire SC Freiburg club does the Bundesliga good. I’ve been a fan of Freiburg for ages. I have many connections to Freiburg through my former jobs,” said Flick (per Tz). “The way they live soccer, I don’t know if it’s unique in the Bundesliga, but in any case Christian Streich has a very good idea of how he wants to see soccer on the pitch. He pushes his players to their limits and develops them. When I see Christian Günter marching up and down the flank. That’s great, outstanding work that’s being done there. It’s a very likeable club, I’m always happy when I see Christian Streich.”

Streich came away impressed with his squad and Bayern Munich as well.

“It started unhappily with the injury of (Baptiste) Santamaria and then the goal. Then we got better into the game after 15 minutes. We did everything, even after the 2: 1. unfortunately we didn’t manage to score the second goal,” said Streich The 2: 2 would not have been undeserved - but the 2: 1 for Bayern is okay too.”

Clearly, the mutual admiration between the two sides was in full effect.
