Bild breaks down which Bayern Munich players were most at fault for lack of clean sheets

Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer is not racking up clean sheets these days and that is a trend the Bavarians would like to change.

On October 24th, 2020, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer posted a clean sheet in a 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Since then, the Bavarians have only registered one shutout — a 2-0 victory over Lokomotiv Moscow on December 9th. Bild analyzed 21 of the last 23 goals allowed — a span of 10 Bundesliga games and 5 Champions League fixtures — and broke down who was responsible.

For whatever reason, the German outlet opted to exclude Wednesday’s Bayern Munich defeat at the hands of Holstein Kiel, which would have added two more and brought the total to 23 as stated above.

Anyway, the findings — in most cases — are what you would expect, but there were a few surprises:

Who is to blame that FC Bayern have conceded so many goals since the last clean-out game (21 in ten league games and five Champions League duels)?

BILD analyzed who was responsible for the goals against clear mistakes:

► Niklas Süle (3), David Alaba (3), Jerome Boateng (3)

► Thomas Müller (2), Leroy Sané (2), Robert Lewandowski (2)

► Joshua Kimmich (1), Benjamin Pavard (1), Bouna Sarr (1), Lucas Hernández (1), Javi Martinez (1), Bright Arrey-Mbi (1)

Without knowing exactly how Bild made those determinations or how they assessed “blame” (for lack of a better term), the notations seem at east somewhat accurate. Regardless, the Bavarians will have to be better against a potent SC Freiburg squad if it wants to get Neuer back to racking up clean sheets.
