Douglas Costa came back to Bayern Munich this season to provide the squad depth at wing behind Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane.
Costa’s latest stint with the Bavarians, however, will reportedly be short-lived. According to a report from SPOX and Goal, Bayern Munich does not hold a purchase option on Costa, which should ensure the Brazilian returns to Juventus in July.
The Old Lady, however, has her own plans:
As of now, a Costa farewell can be assumed. Bayern have no purchase option for the 31-time Brazilian international, and according to information from SPOX and Goal, his main employer Juventus is already looking for a buyer for the summer.
He has no future under Andrea Pirlo, the old lady’s coach. His contract in Turin, where Bayern let him move in 2018 for 40 million euros, runs until 2022.
Costa could still play a role with Bayern Munich over the rest of this season given the condensed schedule, but it looks like he is another player on the roster who could have one eye on finding a home for next season.
