Per a report from The Guardian, Reading left-back Omar Richards is expected to sign a pre-contract with Bayern Munich, which would pave the way for the 22-year-old to join the Bavarians in July.
The move has been speculated for over a week now and a three-year contract appears to be on the table from Bayern Munich:
Omar Richards is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement with Bayern Munich that would lead to the Reading defender joining the European champions at the end of the season. Richards has been one of Reading’s star performers in the Championship this season and the 22-year-old is out of contract in June.
Despite reports last week that he was close to agreeing a new deal at the Madejski Stadium, it is understood representatives of the left-back, who made his solitary appearance for England Under-21s in October 2019, have held talks with Bayern. He is in line to sign a three-year contract at the Bundesliga club despite reported interest from Everton and West Ham.
Richards would likely be a depth piece behind Alphonso Davies and Lucas Hernandez at left-back, but with David Alaba and Jerome Boateng both with uncertain futures, Bayern Munich could preparing contingency plans to bolster the back-line.
The deal would also be yet another free transfer for Bayern Munich, who has been adept at identifying low-risk acquisitions over the past few years.
