Days after suffering a humiliating defeat to BMG in the league, Bayern Munich face Holstein Kiel in the second round of the DFB Pokal. This game was actually postponed owing to the club’s fixture congestion in earlier gameweeks, which tells you what kind of a schedule we’re dealing with at the moment.
Hansi Flick is under the most pressure he’s ever faced as a Bayern coach. The defense is a shambles, and Manuel Neuer (through no fault of his own) has only kept a single clean sheet in almost two months. Hopefully, the prospect of facing a lower division team gives the players a chance to reorient themselves before the next Bundesliga game, but they can’t afford to take it TOO easy, lest we get knocked out by a second division team. That would be rather embarrassing. Good thing it won’t happen. Right? RIGHT?
It’s Bayern time.
