Stop us if you have heard this before: Bayern Munich is unwilling to give up its relentless — and seemingly never-ending — pursuit of Chelsea winger Callum Hudson Odoi.
MAKE IT STOP!
Per the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s rejection of Bayern Munich’s reported “mega deal” for Hudson-Odoi a few months ago did not scare the Bavarians away for good:
At the end of the 2020 summer transfer window it was revealed by Sportsmail that Chelsea had rejected a huge loan offer plus £70million purchase option from Bayern, as the German giants once again upped their interest.
It is understood the Bavarians have not completely given up on the idea of signing the winger, and are monitoring how much game time he is given following the arrival of Chelsea’s big summer signings.
The primary point of the story on Hudson-Odoi was not even really about Bayern Munich, but that was more of the diamond found in the rough. The Daily Mail was more focused on Hudson-Odoi’s effort to improve his game. The original piece appeared on Chelsea’s club website.
“Nobody is a perfect player. There are always flaws and you want to keep improving every day,” Hudson Odoi said. “I want to keep working hard and learning every day. I want to keep educating myself whether it’s at home watching clips or just learning under the manager. He knows what to do and he knows what is right for me and how to play so I want to keep learning under him and working hard. Every time I get on the pitch or in training, I want to give my best every time. I want to give 110 per cent in the match. I want to always make sure that I’m ready. The best way you train is the best way you play in a game.”
Despite all of that and Hudson-Odoi’s desire to improve, the news that Bayern Munich still hasn’t given up on its pursuit of the 20-year-old was the part that jumped off the page once you scrolled to it. More, it also means that this bad take could still be in play.
Anyway, with Douglas Costa clearly not the answer even as the team’s fourth winger behind Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane, we could be set up for yet another summer filled Hudson-Odoi rumors.
