Bayern Munich seem to always be struggling with injuries, with key players missing key matches year after year for all of recent memory. Even though the new campaign hasn’t even kicked off, the Bavarians have already sustained their first injury. Tanguy Nianzou is the unlucky player — Bild reporting he has injured his thigh and will be out for around 6 weeks.

Nianzou is a towering center-half signed from Bayern’s champions league final opponents PSG. As a result of the injury, the highly rated youngster won’t get the chance to play in Bayern’s opening Bundesliga games nor the UEFA supercup. Furthermore, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, David Alaba and co. will have to wait a few further weeks before being able to play with the new signing.

Nianzou hasn’t really had many injury problems so far in his short career, hopefully this is just one minor blip and the Frenchman can stay injury free for the rest of the season. He certainly has the potential to make a difference as a squad player — demonstrated by the fact that he played significant minutes for PSG last year, virtually unheard of for someone his age.

In addition, let’s hope this injury isn’t just the first of many for Bayern over the course of the season! A relatively injury free Bayern will surely be hard for anyone to beat.
