Per a report from Sport1 chief reporter Florian Plettenberg, the whispers surrounding a potential loan assignment for Alexander Nübel could intensify if the 23-year-old is left out of the Bayern Munich squad against Borussia Dortmund in Wednesday’s DFL-Supercup.
After the long courtship of Nübel and the subsequent denials that he would be loaned out, Bayern Munich could change course and opt to give the young goalkeeper a year of seasoning elsewhere after all.
Update #Nübel: Flicks decision against BVB is decisive for the players side. If he is not in the squad again tomorrow a loan solution will be intensified. Today there have been talks between Bayern & the management from Nübel. @SPORT1 #FCBayern

With Manuel Neuer still in absolutely top-form and Sven Ulreich encamped (for now) as Neuer’s back-up, Nübel appears to be the odd-man out. Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick stated after Sunday’s loss to Hoffenheim that he preferred Ulreich over Nübel because the veteran “knows our philosophy.”
That statement could simply mean that Nübel has not been around long enough to fully grasp everything that Flick expects of his goalkeepers. Either way, we should know shortly if it will ultimately be Ulreich or Nübel moving on before the transfer window closes.
