In the latest example of Bayern Munich prospects from the title winning reserve side moving up in the world, right- ack Mert Yilmaz has agreed to a move to Turkish SüperLig side Antalyaspor. The dual Turkish-German player will move to the Antalya side for a reported €500,000.
Since joining Bayern Munich from the youth ranks at RB Leipzig, Yilmaz has made 41 appearances for Die Roten. His debut season saw him contribute one goal and one assist in 25 games in the Regionalliga Bayern. He also played both games of Bayern Munich’s promotion playoffs to the 3.Liga. During the team’s title winning campaign, the Berlin-born player managed three assists in 17 games for the club.
“We put Mert under contract two years ago because after the U19 he couldn’t play on the second team in Leipzig,” Bayern Munich campus director Jochen Sauer told the club website. “With us, he played a part in promotion to the 3.Liga in his first season and in the championship last season. Now he’d like to take the next steps in the first Turkish league. We thank him for his engagement and dedication at FC Bayern and wish him all the best for the future in Antalya.”
Yilmaz’s move comes after Bayern Munich signed German defender Lenny Borges on loan from AC Milan earlier this summer.
