Hasan Salihamidzic says Bayern is keeping “options open” until the transfer window closes

It looks like some more signings will need to be made after all.

Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat in nine months by virtue of a 4-1 loss to Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena. Of course, Bayern’s sluggish performance came just under 72 hours after it took them extra time to defeat Sevilla in the UEFA Supercup in Budapest, Hungary, but it also reinforces the need for them to make more signings before the transfer window closes.

Per a new report from Bild, speaking after the loss, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said Bayern will keep all doors open until the transfer window closes on October 5th: “We are keeping many options open. Let’s let ourselves be surprised by what happens by the end of the transfer window.”

Ajax’s Sergiño Dest has chosen to join Barcelona instead of Bayern, and the Catalans are also said to be getting Max Aarons form Norwich City. On top of that, it’s just been reported that midfielder Michael Cuisance is on the verge of completing a transfer to Leeds United in the Premier League. All of this, of course, after Thiago Alcantara transferred to Liverpool.

Now, Bild suggests Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is now a prime target once again, since he’ll now have increased competition for minutes at Chelsea with Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, and Mason Mount. Javi Martinez might also have to wind up staying and fulfilling the final year on his contract even though he looked set to transfer to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga before the window closes. Internally, Corentin Tolisso was seen as the “replacement” for Thiago, but he struggled against Hoffenheim and is always an injury liability, as talented as he is.
