American international Sergino Dest reportedly chooses Bayern Munich for his future

The right back is looking for a move away from Ajax to a bigger stage

Bayern Munich have been pretty quiet in the transfer window over the course of the summer. While it makes sense given the victory in the UEFA Champions League final, the club does have some potential holes to fill.

Arguably the biggest one lies at the right back position. With Joshua Kimmich determined to make his mark in the midfield and Benjamin Pavard hoping to not go down with an injury again, Bayern could be forgiven if they decide to look to the future and find a younger player to add depth to the backline.

Enter Sergiño Dest: a name that has been on the mind of American soccer fans ever since the Dutch born 19 year old made the decision to represent the United States last October. Rumors have been circulating that he’s angling for a move away from his home club of Ajax, and according to Sky Sports DE, Bayern is his club of choice.

Per the reports, Bayern is in the running with two unnamed Premier League clubs for Dest’s services. Ajax have not yet received an offer from anyone, but they are expecting an offer in the range of €20-25 million.

Bayern manager Hansi Flick has been transparent in his desires to acquire a right back in the summer transfer window, which runs to October 5th, 2020. It seems that it’s a question of when, not if, a right back will join the team.

Not only that, but the question of who Die Roten will add is still in the air. While Dest has been rumored to join Bayern for a few months, another name still circulating is Norwich City defender Max Aarons. Like Dest, he has also expressed his desire to leave the now-relegated club and join the Bavarians. But, with a higher estimated value and a greater potential asking price, it’s hard to know which player Bayern may go with.
