We’re now just a few days away from the resumption of Bayern Munich’s Champions League campaign as they have the second leg against Chelsea to play to finish off the round of 16 tie. They’re up 3-0 on aggregate after bossing the Blues at Stamford Bridge in the first leg back in February.
Per UEFA’s official web site, Bayern has added a few players to the squad this week. They’ve added youngsters Jamal Musiala, Malik Tillman, and Bright Arrey-Mbi to the squad for the remainder of the competition. Oliver Batista Meier, Joshua Zirkzee, Sarpreet Singh, and Lasse Mai have been left out of the main, 25-man squad. There is, of course, a ‘B’ list that squads in the competition can have, for which Bayern has placed Zirkzee on. The list is technically reserved for players born on or after January 1st, 1998 and have been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday. Zirkzee checks all of those boxes.
Each squad is still currently limited to 25 ‘A’ list players, thus the need for the ‘B’ list. For the main group of 25, all of those players must have been previously registered and eligible to play for their club at the domestic level since February 3rd or no later than before the first leg of the round of 16 ties as they were initially scheduled pre-coronavirus.
For Chelsea, they did not make any changes to their squad, but lost Chrisitan Pulisic, Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro to injury last weekend in their FA Cup final loss against Arsenal. Not to mention, they’ll be without Marcos Alonso against Bayern since he got a red card in the first leg.
