Bayern Munich has confirmed the signing of Scotland U-17 winger Barry Hepburn. Arriving in Munich from Celtic’s academy, Hepburn is described as a tricky right-footed winger who combines skill with pace.
The move is very similar to what Liam Morrison did a year ago. Both Morrison and Hepburn started their careers in Celtic and have now decided to try their luck in Munich. Like Morrison, Hepburn is initially supposed to join the U-17 Bayern squad.
Academy director, Jochen Sauer, announced that Bayern is ‘’very happy to have completed Barry’s transfer…He’s an attacking player with a lot of potential who we want to help develop.’’
Bayern who is also linked to another Scottish talent, Aaron Hickey, has now officially signed their third Scottish player. The first-ever Scottish player to join Die Roten was Alan McInally, who won the title with Bayern in 1990.
Whether Morrison and Hepburn will be joined by another Glaswegian is yet to be confirmed, as BFW reported yesterday that Bologna has made their first offer to sign Hickey.
