Thanks to our friend Patrick Smietanka (@PaterMan24), we can give you transcript of what Lewandowski had to say:
“I’m very proud of this squad and how we performed. It still hasn’t sunk in yet. I have no words for how we played... All these years I’ve been working towards this and finally it’s paid off. This season we’ve had has been unbelievable and will be written in the history books.”
Lewandowski thanked the fans for their support in this incredibly difficult season:
“Every season we have fans and that’s what we play for. Even though the fans couldn’t be here, that’s what each goal was for. We hope they can celebrate at home with us and hopefully with us in Munich soon.”
“I want to thank all the fans and my family and everyone who has motivated and inspired me to push forward and strive for success.”
Lewandowski dedicated the trophy to his family
“This was for my wife, my kids, and my late father, who always looked over me, and that’s who I want to say thanks for.”
And finally, the achievement means the world to him as a proud Polish citizen:
“Lastly this is for Poland and how any player or anyone from Poland can push to success and show how good football can be from there, thank you”
