Thiago Alcántara put out an absolute masterclass as a Bayern Munich centre-mid in their Champions league final vs PSG. However, many have suggested that Thiago wants to leave Bavaria in the future, and that this game would potentially be his final one for the club.
After beating PSG, Bayern manager Hansi Flick and Thiago had a long chat — with many speculating that this confirmed Thiago's time at the club was up.
However, in the post match press conference, a shock emerged. When questioned on Thiago’s future, Flick straightforwardly stated, “he told me he’s staying”.
Yet, this bombshell wasn’t as large as it initially seemed. After stalling for a few seconds, looking straight at the reporter, Hansi burst out laughing. Fair enough, after a wonderful deadpan delivery of a hilarious joke.
Watch it here:
The CL winning manager was clearly happy with himself, saying “you pulled a brilliant face” to the reporter. Furthermore, proving that Germans DO have a sense of humour — something you wouldn’t have known seeing Thomas Müller’s terrible Robert LewanGOALski pun. I’m surprised he hasn’t come out with a Serge GOALnabry and Kingsley GOALman, after the pairs goal scoring exploits recently...
As for what his conversation with Thiago was really about, the boss “thanked him for our time together”. Is that perhaps an indication that Thiago really is set for Liverpool and the Premier League? Who knows.
