Bayern Munich and Dynamo Dresden have announced the transfer of Paul Will today. The midfielder has signed a three year contract with Dresden and has already joined the club for team training. Both clubs have agreed to not disclose the terms of the transfer, but a fee did change hands as Will had another season left on his Bayern contract.

“Paul approached us with the desire to take on a new challenge. He played a major role in the promotion of the amateurs to the third division and in the championship,” Campus Director Jochen Sauer said. “We would like to thank him for his great commitment over the past few years and wish him all the best for the future.”

Dresden was relegated at the end of the 2.Bundesliga season down in the 3.Liga, and the Saxony side will be expecting to end the 2020/21 3.Liga season with promotion back into the second division.

Will played 22 times for Sebastian Hoeneß in the 3.Liga last season in midfield and at left back. During his first year at the club, he made 18 appearances helping Bayern II earn promotion from the Regionalliga Bayern into the third division.

Joining Will in Dresden will be his former Bayern II teammate from the 2018/19 season, Jonathan Meier. Meier has joined Dresden on loan from Mainz for the entirety of the 2020/21 season.

At Bayern Munich, Will played with Lukas Mai. At Dynamo Dresden, he’ll get to play with his big brother Sebastian Mai. The more things change, the more things stay the same.

Good luck, Paul!
